The Art of Managing Stormwater. Participants will be encouraged to use their “whole brains” (as opposed to “right” or “left”) while planning, designing and implementing stormwater management practices. An analysis of current regulatory and design approaches will be contrasted with case studies demonstrating successful challenges to traditional thinking.
- Acknowledge that the design and regulatory approaches to managing stormwater in the US is flawed.
- Understand that a different type of thinking is required if we are ever going to meet the goals of the Clean Water Act.
- Demonstrate examples of “whole brained” thinking that challenged the status quo and improved processes and production, increased quality and safety, and decreased cost and impacts to the environment.
