SCJ Studio Landscape Architecture is seeking a landscape architect with project management experience and a landscape designer with office experience for our newest SCJ office in Butte, MT.

Our landscape architect project managers perform professional-level planning, including site and graphic design tasks in both a management role for their projects and in a support capacity for other project managers and principals throughout SCJ Studio and SCJ Alliance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborating on both public and private sector projects in a variety of locations across the west including park master planning and parks and recreation design, trail design and planning, private residential, and commercial/institutional projects.

  • Valuing relationships both within and outside of SCJ with strong communication. You will interact with and build professional relationships with clients, agencies, colleagues, and the public.

  • Originating and developing design concepts. We’re looking for someone with strong design and graphic skills that can be expressed in a variety of formats and assist in or develop construction specifications and construction details.

  • Following state and licensing standards. You'll meet all standards as outlined by Montana law specific to the practice of Landscape Architecture as regulated by state licensure and have strong knowledge of local land use regulations and the ability to interpret land use language.

  • Conducting site visits and observations. You'll perform construction on-site supervision, review shop drawings, submittals, and RFI’s as well as participate in client meetings, public consultations, and presentations.

  • Collaborating with and supporting junior staff. You'll provide professional oversight, manage tasks, help coordinate schedules, collaborate on design, redlines, reviews, oversee the technical execution of work products, and assist in the development of programs, schematics, and concepts.

  • Ensuring project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately

What you bring

  • A passion for serving others, communication, creativity, and a commitment to high-quality work.

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in landscape architecture from a college or university accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB).

  • State licensure, or the ability and desire, and existing qualifications to secure a landscape architecture license.

  • Willingness to conduct site visits of prospective project locations and sites actively under construction in all types of weather, with varying site conditions.

  • 5+ years of experience in the fields of site planning, site design, and landscape design (for the PM position)

  • 5+ years of experience in a landscape architecture office setting, working on teams (for the PM position)

  • Experience and fluency with AutoCAD, LandFX, Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketchup, Lumion or Rhino, and/or Revit.
